Whether you cook in a full kitchen, a dorm room, or a small space, the choices you make with food can create powerful change. The Kitchen Activist Collective gives you the tools, community, and inspiration to make eating sustainably easier—and more rewarding—no matter where you prepare your meals.

What is the Kitchen Activist
Collective Membership?

A person who uses their food choices—through sourcing, preparation, and consumption—as a catalyst for positive environmental and social change, whether in their own kitchen or wherever they cook and eat.

Here’s What You’ll Get When You Join

JOIN THE KAC

Hi, I’m Florencia.

I started the Kitchen Activist Collective because I believe change begins at the kitchen table. After years of researching, writing, and speaking about the environmental impact of our food system, I realized the most powerful shifts start with what we choose to cook—and how we cook it.

I'm the author of Eat Less Water, named a Best Book by Kirkus Reviews, and my upcoming book, The Kitchen Activist, expands on the idea that real environmental change can begin in the heart of our homes. I’ve led pesticide-free school campaigns, launched the Kitchen Activist podcast, and shared this work on NPR, CBS, and KCRW’s Good Food. Through it all, one truth keeps rising: the kitchen is a climate solution hiding in plain sight.

The Kitchen Activist Collective is my way of turning knowledge into action—and doing it with a community of people (like you!) who care deeply about sustainability, justice, and the health of our families and planet.

I’m also a mom of three, splitting time between California’s agricultural coast and New Mexico’s high desert. I know firsthand that sustainable living has to work in real life—and I’m here to help make it doable and joyful.

There is power in the collective!

Each week as a member of the KAC, you’ll receive a plant-forward meal plan straight to your inbox—complete with flexible menus and recipes.

You can follow the plan exactly or use it as inspiration to mix and match depending on how many you're feeding.

I focus on plant-forward dishes because, let’s be honest, most of us already have plenty of go-to ideas for cooking with animal protein—that’s likely what we grew up with. The Kitchen Activist meal plans are here to expand your table with delicious, sustainable options that put vegetables, grains, and legumes at the center.

And if you do cook with meat, I’ll share simple tips to help you do so more mindfully.

After this conversation, you’ll never think of your margarita the same way again. Join us for a lively and eye-opening discussion with Dr. Adolfo Murillo, founder of an organic tequila farm dedicated to sustainable practices. We’ll explore how he uses cattle for natural weed abatement, how he combats dropping water tables with soil-building dry farming methods, and the harsh realities of industrial tequila production—where large brands lease land until wells run dry, deplete the soil, and move on. Of course, no conversation with Dr. Murillo would be complete without a masterclass in crafting the perfect margarita—just in time for Cinco de Mayo.

Together, they’ll guide you through making pozole soup (vegetarian and animal-protein versions) and fresh sopapillas—dishes perfect for any time of year, especially for hosting. As they cook, they’ll share how they practice Kitchen Activism at home, offering a real-life look at what it means to cook with purpose and partnership. All Kitchen Activist members  will receive the recipes and shopping ideas in advance.

We’ll explore how their unique distribution model supports small farmers, promotes soil health, and provides access to high-quality, non-GMO pantry staples. Learn how intentional food sourcing can strengthen local food systems, reduce waste, and align your shopping habits with your values. We’ll also discuss how you can find an Azure Standard pickup location near you—or even start one in your community—making sustainable, bulk shopping more accessible than ever.

The Kitchen Activist Collective is such a warm, supportive space. It feels amazing to help the planet through what I do every day in the kitchen, and this group's support makes it easy. There are a lot of coaches out there, but Florencia is a coach who helps us save the planet from our kitchens through our food.

Matthew, Kitchen Activist Collective member, Santa Fe, NM

You might be doing small things—like reducing food waste, bringing reusable bags, or choosing local produce—but because you are part of a community, there is a mind shift. I've experienced that shift myself. I started composting, something I never thought to do before. I now regularly shop at my farmers' market with renewed attention, purposely supporting my local growers. And I'm even open to learn how to cook.

The action steps I've learned inside the Collective have saved us at least $50 weekly on groceries—and even more by reducing takeout. My husband used to buy the same groceries every week, whether we needed them or not. Now, with meal planning, he only buys what we need, and we often shop together at the farmers' market. Being part of the Kitchen Activist Collective has been a game-changer for our budget, kitchen, and relationship—no more arguments about groceries!

*Eva's family now saves $200 a month ($2,400 a year) in groceries thanks to the strategies she learned at KA Collective.
